The spirit of Jayhawks sports is not captured by just one phrase, one season, or one particular game; instead, the student-athletes and coaches who made the magic happen over the decades blend their experiences to capture the true essence of their beloved school. Author Biography
Jeff Bollig began in the athletic department at the University of Kansas even before graduation and worked as associate sports information director for several years after. He then served as director of media relations for the Big Eight Conference, and is now director of communications for the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. He lives in Overland Park, Kansas. Doug Vance is a freelance writer and executive director of the nonprofit Kansas Recreation and Park Association. He is a former assistant athletics director for media relations at the University of Kansas, and was also associate athletics director for communications. He contributes regularly to community magazines in Lawrence and Topeka and collaborated with broadcaster Max Falkenstien for the book Max and the Jayhawks. Bill Self is the men's basketball coach at the University of Kansas. He has been named the Sporting News National Coach of the Year and the Big 12 Coach of the Year. They both live in Lawrence, Kansas.
