FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Triumph Books, the leader in sports publishing, is excited to announce that J.A. Adande will serve as editor of The Year’s Best Sports Writing 2022, set to be released in October 2022.

“I am thrilled that J.A. Adande will serve as editor of The Year’s Best Sports Writing 2022,” said The Year’s Best Sports Writing 2021 editor Glenn Stout. “As a talented writer and respected educator, J.A. is the perfect choice to continue the tradition of the premier sports writing collection and carry it forward for another year. A year from now I am sure readers will be pleased with the results.”

For 30 years, The Best American Sports Writing was a showcase for the most exceptional sports journalism of the previous year. Continuing that tradition, founding editor Glenn Stout teamed up with Triumph Books in 2021 to launch the new annual series The Year’s Best Sports Writing, injecting new energy and a fresh approach to the tradition of recognizing great sports writing. Serving as the editor for the 2022 edition of The Year’s Best Sports Writing, Adande will be supported by a diverse advisory board with decades of experience in longform writing and editing.

“Having one of my stories selected for the original Best American Sports Writing series was a career highlight for me,” said Adande. “Being asked to edit The Year’s Best Sports Writing is an even greater honor. There’s an abundance of talented writers in the sports world right now and I’m looking forward to immersing myself in their work.”

Following in the footsteps of a series that was long-considered an annual must-buy for thousands of dedicated readers, The Year’s Best Sports Writing 2022 will feature the best sports writing from a year when the sports world was trying to return to a sense of normalcy from the COVID-19 pandemic while also grappling with important conversations surrounding diversity, mental health and allegations of abuse.

“Triumph Books is privileged to publish the definitive annual best sports writing collection,” said Triumph publisher Noah Amstadter. “One of the most respected writers in America for decades, J.A. Adande is shaping the future of sports journalism in his current position at Northwestern. He is the perfect person to edit our 2022 edition of The Year’s Best Sports Writing.”

The Year’s Best Sports Writing 2022 will be released in October 2022, and review copies will be available upon request. Submissions for the 2022 edition can be emailed to bestsportswriting2022@gmail.com.
