Rick Carpiniello covered the New York Rangers for The Journal News and The Athletic from 1978 through 2021. He has written two previous books on the team, Messier: Hockey’s Dragonslayer and Nightmare on 33rd Street. He contributed stores regularly to USA Today, The Hockey News, Sports Illustrated and many other publications.
