When Kent McDill accepted a job covering the Chicago Bulls in 1988, he had no idea that he was going to be writing about the team some consider to be the NBA’s greatest dynasty, as well as the greatest athlete in the world, Michael Jordan. Kent McDill recorded arguably the greatest sports story in history and watched in awe with the entire world as the Bulls won six NBA championships between 1991 and 1998.
In If These Walls Could Talk: Stories from the Sideline, Locker Room, and Press Box of the Chicago Bulls Dynasty (Triumph Books, October 2014) by Kent McDill, fans get the chance to read about the 1990s NBA championship teams from the writer who was with them through it all. Along with a foreword by former Bulls center and coach, Bill Cartwright, this book offers a new perspective on the team fans will always remember. Highlights include:
- Michael Jordan once sat down with Kent and other writers for a beer after he scored his career-record of 69 points in a 117–113 overtime victory over the Cavaliers and talked about the game.
- The reason why Kent McDill doesn’t have any Bulls memorabilia from his time on the road covering the greatest basketball team in the country.
- What Michael Jordan did before almost every game he played.
- Kent McDill remembers the story he wrote announcing Scottie Pippen was leaving the Bulls.
