Author Biography

Johnny Pesky has served the Red Sox in virtually every capacity—an All-Star player, a coach, a manager, a broadcaster, and a goodwill ambassador—over parts of seven decades. A Boston legend, Pesky has worn the uniform longer than anyone else, and his namesake “Pesky Pole” marks the right field foul line at Fenway Park. Maureen Mullen is a freelance writer with a long tenure covering the Boston Red Sox and Major League Baseball. Her work has appeared in the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, Hall of Fame Magazine, the Lynn Daily Item, MLB.com, and many other newspapers, publications, and websites. Peter Gammons is an award-winning journalist who has covered baseball and the Red Sox for more than 40 years.
