Book looks back at UVa history
Virginia graduate Brian Leung has written a book on the history of UVa athletics titled, “100 Things Virginia Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die.”
Triumph Books has published a series of these books about various pro and college teams.
Leung is not only the general counsel for Vox Media in Washington, D.C., but also the founder and managing editor of StreakingTheLawn.com, a website for UVa fans.
One of his 100 topics is about former Patrick Henry and UVa basketball star Curtis Staples, while another is about former Cave Spring and UVa football standouts Tiki and Ronde Barber.
“This is 100 short stories — all the moments, all the players, all the events that happened around Virginia athletics,” Leung said. “Being a Virginia fan for so long and being somebody who runs a Virginia sports website, I thought I knew a lot, but I learned a lot.
“Anybody who has been around the Virginia athletics program can treat it as sort of a walk down memory lane, and any of the … newer fans can treat it a sort of a history reference book.”
Leung interviewed former UVa men’s basketball coach and athletic director Terry Holland and a few others for the book, but he got most of his content from reading various newspapers and books.
His book is available from Barnes & Noble and Amazon.
