About the Authors
David Poole has been motorsports writer for the Charlotte Observer since 1997, traveling around the country more than 30 weekends a year covering NASCAR\'s top series and teams. Poole has written NASCAR articles for a number of major magazines and has appeared on ESPN, SPEED and on CBS, ABC and NBC network news programs as well as dozens of radio stations nationwide talking about stock car racing news and issues. He is the author of several books on NASCAR. Poole is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and currently lives in Gastonia, N.C. with his wife, Katy, and three children, Matthew, David and Emily.
James McLaurin is an award-winning NASCAR journalist who formally was the motorsports writer for The State Newspaper in Columbia, S.C. He has covered racing in four decades and is a two-time winner of the National Motorsports Association’s George Cunningham Award, signifying the writer of the year. He has also won the International Hot Rod Association’s Media Award, and many other writing awards. McLaurin is the author of NASCAR’s Most Wanted, The Top 10 Book of Outrageous Drivers, Wild Wrecks and Other Oddities, and co-author of Taking Stock, Life in NASCAR’s Fast Lane. He occasionally does freelance writing for a variety of racing publications.
