Since the Redskins relocated to Washington, D.C. in 1937, fans have filled seats every season to see their favorite team dominate. Over the years, the Redskins have become one of the NFL’s leading franchises with three Super Bowl championships and two NFL titles, and with one of the most passionate fan bases in the NFL, it’s hard not to sing along to “Hail to the Redskins.”
100 Things Redskins Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die (Triumph Books, September 2014) by D.C. sports columnist Rick Snider, along with a foreword by former general manager Charley Casserly, discloses the stories Snider describes as “things you’ll laugh about with your buddies over a beer or sucker them into bar bets.” Snider shares his own insider stories since first covering the team in 1983 and answers many questions he has wondered about himself. Find out which Redskins player the Heisman trophy was modeled after and how the 1937 NFL Championship trophy was nearly thrown away. Flip through the pages to discover:
After the turbulent 2013 season and Jay Gruden stepping in as the new head coach, there is no telling what’s next for the Redskins. Meanwhile, fans can learn the team’s past remains as compelling as its prospects for the future.
