Kirk McNair is the founder of ‘Bama magazine and BamaMag.com, which he started in 1979 after serving as sports information director at the University of Alabama. He has won national awards for both sports information and sportswriting. He is the former president of the National Collegiate Sportswriters and Alabama Sportswriters associations.

Kirk McNair is editor of 'Bama, Inside the Crimson Tide magazine, which he founded in 1979 after serving as sports information director at Alabama. He also publishes the Alabama website BamaMag.com. He went to Alabama in 1970 from the Birmingham Post-Herald, where he was assistant sports editor. He has won national awards for both sports information and for sportswriting. He is the former president of the National Collegiate Sports Publishers and of the Alabama Sports Writers associations. He is also the author of What It Means To Be Crimson Tide.
